Hezekiah's Tunnel & Pools of Siloam

One of the highlights of our trip will be a trip to Hezekiah’s tunnel in the Ancient City of David of Jerusalem. This is a short 20-30 minute walk, about 500m from the Gihon Spring to the Pool of Siloam. It was designed during the time of Hezekiah to preserve Jerusalem with water in times of siege from the Assyrian invaders. Workers cut through bedrock and incredibly met in the middle. It is an ancient archaeological engineering masterpiece that we will get to experience firsthand! It ends at the Pool of Siloam, where Jesus later heals a blind man. (see John 9)

You will need some type of water shoe or old canvas shoes and a flashlight, (on the packing list). The water is usually above the knee. You can roll up pants or wade through and dry off after. We try to get a reservation to go through in the afternoon so we can go back to the hotel right after.

We hope you plan to do this. If you don't want to, there is a "dry" tunnel that you can go through to meet at the bus.
